- Introduction
- Hawaii State Assessment (HSA) - The HSA is a standards-based assessment of the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards III (HCPS III). The HSA in reading and mathematics is administered to students in grades 3-8 and 10. The results of the HSA are used in the computation of a school's Adequate Yearly Progress. Students in grades 4, 8 and 10 also take the HSA in science and the results are reported according to NCLB requirements. Information about the HSA for parents, students and educators may be found at the AlohaHSA.org website.
- Hawaii State Alternate Assessment (HSAA) - The HSAA is a standards-based assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities who are unable to take the Hawaii State Assessment even with accommodations. Students in grades 3-8 and 10 are assessed in reading and mathematics and the results are used in the computation of a school's Adequate Yearly Progress. Students in grades 4, 8 and 10 are also assessed in science and the results are reported according to NCLB requirements. The administration of the HSAA takes place throughout the school year.
