for 2010-2011 Kindergarten and Junior K Begins in February ... Children
who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2010, may enroll in regular kindergarten, while
children who reach five years of age between August 2 and December 31 may enroll in junior kindergarten. (100126)

of school improvement funds for the HIDOE to September 30, 2013 and to permit HIDOE Tier
I and Tier II Title I participating schools that will implement a turnaround or restart

Races to Claim $78M for Education Reform ... part of
President Barack Obama’s Race to the Top grant program to use economic stimulus money to
boost education. The Race to the Top is designed to provide incentives to the states to
find ways to begin making the changes that business, political, community and education
leaders have known are needed to boost student achievement.Hawai‘i has submitted its plan
and requested $78 million to implement reform. (100119)

Wu brings a wealth of experience to the Department of Education as senior director of systems
development at Hawaiian Airlines notably HawaiianAir.com, which was the largest
commercial implementation of a .NET-based Microsoft SharePoint (MOSS) site in the world;
as well as San Francisco Bay Area experience with IBM; Alphablox Corporation; Callidus
Software; Oracle Corporation and others. His areas of specialization include analytics,
