No high school diploma? Check
with your local Community School... |
There are three (3) ways to get your diploma through the Community
Schools...
- CREDIT METHOD: Earning the same number of credits required
for graduation from regular high schools, and demonstrating mastery of essential competencies
This option lets you complete your high school courses in a community school. This might be the path for
you if you are short a few courses for graduation and can take the courses in your local community school.
- TEST METHOD: Achieving a satisfactory score on the General Educational
Development (GED) tests
- COMPETENCY-BASED METHOD: Completing the competency-based
high school diploma program
This option lets you qualify by enrolling and completing the Competency Based (CB) High School Diploma
Program. This is a three-semester program based on functional skills, and has two phases: CB classes and Career
Goals. This might be the one for you if you can commit to 50 hours for each of the three semesters, and are
looking for a practical, life-skills curriculum.
The fine print...
- High school diploma candidates below the age of 18 must be officially released from a public high school
in Hawaii and must also submit a Parent's Permission form prior to enrollment.
