There are two phases in the application process for this important competitive grant.  Forty states and the District of Columbia submitted applications for the first phase.  On March 4, 2010, the U.S. Department of Education announced that 15 states and the District of Columbia had been selected as Phase 1 state finalists. Although Hawaii was not selected in this phase, we are still in the race. State Phase 1 awards will be announced in April 2010. Upon receipt, our team will review USDE's feedback on Hawaii's application and strengthen our reform proposals in preparation for Phase 2.  Phase 2 applications are due on June 1, 2010, with state awards to be announced in September 2010.
