Another 70,000 adult learners enroll in courses at eleven adult community schools. Hawaii's innovative After-School Plus (A+) program provides after-school childcare in a safe and learning-enriched environment at all elementary schools for more than 20,000 latchkey children. Under Hawaii's Compulsory Attendance Law, children and youth between the ages of six and eighteen years must attend school unless they have an approved exception.

Diversity. Hawaii's population is known for its cultural diversity. Hawaii's public schools reflect that rich diversity, and cultural appreciation and sharing is a valued part of the learning experience.
